This is the quest of the Templars searching the mysterious relic called 'the apple of Eden' which holds the key to controlling mankind's free will itself and an assassin's attempt to stop them.
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Reading these reviews , it is obvious to me that these people were really confused about the movie. Some of them thought this movie was supporting the Islamic empire, some people thought that this movie was against the Christiian Templar Knights. First of all, if you don't have a grasp of history, and some rudimentary knowledge of magic and the esoteric arts, you're not going to comprehend the movie. Any Christian worth his salt, should readily admit that the inquisition was a terrible time for religion. If you cant admit that, or see that, you're an idiot. It was a shameful time for Christians, and their most awful hour. The Islamic army, likewise, were also just as awful. They had conquered half the know world at that time, and had over 500 attacks on European soil, and when they finally raided Jerusalem, they inspired the Crusades. Islam, as we all know, is about 200xs more strict than Christianity. Yes, the inquisition was burning people at the stake, and witch hunting , but Islam, does that on the daily- if you're in any way familiar with their Islamic law. A lot more strict ... for example, they hung gay people off of tall buildings. They burned whole families alive if they didn't attend prayers five times a day..arguably , Islam is the strictest religion in the world and always has been.. so both religions at this time were horrible. The Assassins in this movie, didn't belong to either camp. Both of these religions wanted authoritarian rule, both religions wanted strict regulations, and totalitarian adherence to them. The fact that the Sultan held the apple is of little consequence. Obviously in this case, the Sultan , which is not an Islamic religious term, wanted to preserve free will. The Assassins , were a magical sect. They used terms that are very common in the magical ( Illuminati) world. For example, "Nothing is true, everything is permitted " is a term that is well known and well versed in the high magical community. Sort of like a mantra. Much of their philosophy, their vernacular, and their secrecy and hiding in plain sight -or disguise is all of magical orientation. It's considered an elementary trick for high magicans - who often have to disguise themselves - to portray themselves as worse than they are, to throw off their scent if you will.. they act a certain way, that makes people think they are dumb, low class, criminal, mean, it's too protect themselves but also to weed out the people who can't see the difference or can't comprehend them. It's like a filter for humanity.. if you can see them , you're a part of them. You get it. You know.

The high magical communities have considered themselves the Illuminati of society for hundreds and hundreds of years, preservers of ancient wisdom and knowledge and the true divine secrets of the universe. This was obviously made or written by someone in the magical community. I loved this film. I thought it was totally amazing and really enjoyed it. The CGI is impressive ,the acting made me a Micheal Fassbender fan , the writing was smart. It was a great film, and you shouldn't miss it. It's a shame that more people are not familiar with magical arts , and can't connect the dots.. or really not familiar with history and various religions of the world. Some reviews of this movie actually said that they thought it would inspire Islamic terrorism - which made me laugh out loud. Devout Islam is like devout Christianity on steroids and no devout Muslim is going to approve of anything in this movie or even the concept of free will.. that is everything Islam is not and never has been. Either has Christianity. Religion was devised to take away the will, replace it with shame and fear and punishment . Magick, on the other hand, the goal of every high Magician worth his salt, is to find and live in his true will- this is of paramount importance to Thelemites for example, or anyone of Crowley dogma/ path. The true will is what makes magick possible- so this movie , in so many ways, is just dripping with magical symbolism and allegory. The only religions that don't use the threat of free will to control or punish people are Hindu and Buddhism.. but even the Hindi have Karna. A gentler form of hell. So let go of all your supposed opinions about everything and just enjoy the film.
I never write reviews on here, but I feel that this movie has been unjustly underrated, so I feel the need to write a fair review. All the negative reviews for AC are from people that played the video game and are unhappy with the fact that this movie is not 100% like it. Whenever a movie is an adaptation of a book, game, or even remake, you will always have fans of the original that are unable to view the film as a separate work and are dissatisfied that it is not exactly identical. I almost did not watch this movie due to all the negative reviews. Upon closer inspection, the majority of the negative user reviews simply complain about the differences between the AC game and movie. Apparently if you have played the game, then don't bother watching the movie; but for those of us that haven't, this film is amazing. AC is non-stop action, a little bit of sci fi, and the visuals are spectacular. Evils organizations, secret societies, fantastic fight scenes, what's not to like?
Declaring Assassin’s Creed to be the best video game movie ever made is the kind of backhanded compliment that sounds like hyperbole, but the description fits the bill on both counts. Regardless of what you call this peculiar, arrestingly uninviting nonsense, the fact of the matter is that it’s the only blockbuster of 2016 that left me desperate for a sequel.
