After a mysterious creature resembling a sentient octopus blows up the moon he threatens to do the same to the earth within a year if a seemingly arbitrary classroom of students cant assassinate him before then, while he attempts to teach them as an ordinary sensei.
The Earth is threatened by a powerful creature who destroyed 70% of the Moon with its power, rendering into the shape of a crescent moon forever. The creature claims that within a year, Earth will also be destroyed by him, but he offers mankind a chance to avert this fate. In class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School, he starts working as a homeroom teacher where he teaches his students not only regular subjects, but the ways of assassination. The Japanese government promises a reward of ¥10 billion (i.e. 100 million USD) to whoever among the students succeeds to kill their teacher, whom they have named "Korosensei" . However, this has proven to be an almost impossible task, as he has several inhuman abilities at his disposal, including the capacity of moving at Mach 20.
This show offers a much more unique experience than most of the shonen animes, or shows in general. It is a flurry of different genres, all compiled into a surprisingly good mould. AC has some slice of life elements, comedic moments that fit the situation perfectly, great quality fight scenes and a deep and good character development, which contrasts to the outwardly simplistic plot. But you have to actually see the show, before you blindly rate it. There was some guy who was complaining about the 'cheesiness' of the show, but what do you expect? It's a show centered around highschool characters, and honestly, AC is deeper than a lot of anime I've seen. There's also a good reason behind the man character's apparent 'girliness', which is very well explained in later episodes. Season 1 sort of has a lighter feeling around it, and focuses on fun stuff, for lack of better words. Season 2 is a shade darker, with better tension, conflict and much more action. The best part about this show is the lack of filler, and the fact that the it can match any mood you're feeling with what happens on screen. Overall, currently I name AC as the best comedic anime I've seen, which still retains a serious larger plot.
The premise of the show is very intriguing and i enjoyed it a lot the first couple episodes, but as the show goes on there are some really slow episodes in and it had trouble keeping my interest until the end of the 1st season. After a friend told me that there is a good conclusion at the end of it i kept on watching it but was sorely disappointed, i found the ending of season 1 really weird and anti-climatic, there was no real suspense. While the life lessons and deeper meaning through the shows are cool but ultimately very light philosophy attempts they fail to impress me. Character development is well done but the writing in general is average at best, there was no twist where i was like "oh wow". I guess i just don't understand it, i will not continue watching through season 2.
