Four years after the events of Day 8, Jack Bauer remains a federal fugitive. Meanwhile, amid growing concerns over the use of US military drones in combat, President James Heller pays a visit to London to negotiate a treaty to continue their basing on British soil. Having heard rumors of an imminent attack against Heller, Bauer resurfaces in the city, where he is apprehended by the CIA and forcibly recruited into joining their investigation. As forces within the White House conspire against him, Bauer realizes that the complexity of the plot extends beyond a presidential assassination, and that the consequences of a successful attack will alter the course of history. With the help of a disgraced CIA agent and a hacker collective preaching free information, he must confront an unseen enemy whose personal vendetta threatens to push the world to the brink of war.
Jack Bauer comes out of hiding in London to head off a massive terrorist attack while being hunted down by American forces dispatched by President James Heller.
24 and Lost changed TV for ever, though it was the second evolution… the first of course was x files. 24 was one of the best TV shows ever and it brought a new level of excellence to TV and it was a huge success. All 8 seasons were great, okay every season had maybe the same basic concept of Jack saving America from something a bomb, a biological weapon and you may have thought it repetitive but they could always bring something new to each season alongside that even in the last season. Jump to now a Jack is back. Was it worth it? That's the biggest question surrounding the 12 episode miniseries 24: Live Another Day. The answer so far is yes and one thing can be said after the first episode this type of TV series is really missing from TV today. Bauer by Foxs own admission is the right wing writer Howard Gordon's brain child (who we can also thank Homeland) and it became a success in the age of paranoia where terrorist don't use their bodies to suicide bomb but planes. The main character Jack Bauer the counter terrorist puts home and honor above all else. He's already sacrificed his wife and child for country and is an American hero. After 9/11 Fox gave the US a hero to cling to who represents an action man, who sometimes crushes human rights underfoot cause the means justifies the ends and the greater good. Let's talk now a little about my first impression of the new season: The style and the framework of it, like all the other seasons, despite the new set is the same, there is a headquarters where there will probably be a mole, and at least 2 or probably 3 side stories taking place to up the classic conspiracy/ end of the world story line. The only problem is that while in the first 8 24 hours there was an enemy with an atom/ chemical/ biological weapon and Jack had to go and open a can of woopass, during this new day they face hackers, hijacked drones and president Heller (yep Jacks ex-woman's dad) is in London signing some deal and they want to use the drones against him. So Bauer's job is much harder and he'll need Chloe O'Brien's help, who spends the first episode getting intensely questioned by the CIA for being part of an underground hacker brigade and Jack needs to break her out. I liked the first episode, the tempo is a little slower than what we're used to in 24, but for someone just being introduced to the series will be surprised cause as opposed to other TV shows there is more action in the first 42 minutes than in 2-3 episodes of other series. So I think it was worth returning to the show just for that. Then the second question of course is who the show was made for. The fanatics, who stand by the show, or new viewers they may pick up? And if it was made for fans then what do they want? I just hope they want to throw a bone to the fans. So far it looks like it's so. I'm happy so far. It doesn't hit as hard as the first season did, but it being gone for 4 years its good to see it back. I give it a 9/10 https://www.youtube.com/user/silverscreenreviews1
3 years after the event in New York, Jack Bauer has come out of hiding in London, when he learns of a plot to kill the United States President. Live Another Day appears to be a one shot deal, but as we've seen, the shows popularity means there is always a chance it will pop up again. While Fox has said nothing about the future of the show, Live Another Day did average over 10 million viewers an episode. As I do, I'm sure those fans are hoping that number leads to either the series coming back, a feature film, or simply more mini-series. It's hard to imagine 24 taking place in another country and in just 12 episodes, but it didn't matter one bit, because of Kiefer Sutherland. The often criticized actor has found the Midis touch when it comes to Jack Bauer. I mean seriously, have you ever heard of a show that can completely change cast and location every season and still manage to survive? The cast, the location, even the date doesn't matter, because it has been and always will be about Jack Bauer. In a strange twist, as kind of a thank you to the fans, many characters from previous seasons have returned for the mini-series, and it only made it that much more enjoyable. Live Another Day features the same Jack, who really hasn't lost a step. It also comes with everything you came to expect from 8 seasons of the hit show. Live Another Day may only have been half as long as the other seasons, but it rivals every single one of them. If you're a fan or even a casual viewer of the show, give yourself a treat and sit down for 12 new episodes of this timeless television classic!

Mostly, no. There were rumors that the real-time format of the series had been abandoned, in favor of a 12-hour format that would be a condensed version of a 24-hour day. However, the bulk of the series is still in real-time, with every 1-hour episode depicting an hour within the series.

It is only in the final episode, 10 minutes before the end, that there is a flash-forward of 12 hours. As a result, the series starts at 11:00 AM, and ends at 11:00 AM the next day. It still encompasses 24 hours, but skips one block of 12 hours within it.
