An assassin seeks redemption after being given a second chance at life.
Making a rare foray into rock 'em, sock 'em action territory, Hawke plays a CIA agent who sacrifices everything for his employers, including his family and, ultimately, his own life. No sooner has he shuffled off this mortal coil, though, than he finds himself mysteriously resurrected for one last mission that's timed to last exactly 24 hours. Once the countdown clock embedded in his arm reaches zero, he'll once again nod off into an eternal slumber if he hasn't completed his task. Before that happens, expect him to wreak bloody havoc on both his targets and his former CIA minders.
This is one of the best action films I have ever seen. The mixture of drama with the story of Travis and his now dead family is played off against his present day status as an assassin. The love story that emerges with Lin Besset helps to propel the story forward and gives hope to a man that is dead on the inside.This reminds me of John Wick and some of the makers of those films are present in making this film. All in all a great story filled with heart stopping action.
So, this movie is a cliche and we&#39;ve seen it mosly before, but so what?<br/><br/>The is about an assassin who is played by Ethan Hawke, who is killed and bought back to life. That is all need be said.<br/><br/>The movie action is pretty standard, but in an era of overused CGI and everyone bandwagoning on Superhero movies, this is a gem.<br/><br/>It is more of a thriller action movie, with a sci-fi twist. It seems to be a smaller budge movie, but is a treat to watch with a high testosterone crowd or on the weekend. <br/><br/>I give it an 8 out of 10. It will not win an Oscar, but way better and enjoyable than those artsy fartsy movies than win awards due to identity politics or female empowerment.
Hawke delivers a workmanlike performance, but can't redeem the third act's macho baloney; sadly, Rutger Hauer (introduced in the opening and then wasted) doesn't come save him.
