Barça are in a rush to give the supporters the present the most desire, which they have spend months waiting for and in the middle of July it will arrive: Messi will say "I do" again. This time for the Catalan club.
There are two dates which are being talked about to confirm the player's contract renewal. Somewhere between July 12 and July 19 is the most likely option, when the players return for pre-season before they head off on tour to the United States. That's the ideal date for the club, although not the only one.
The second option is a bit later, but before any official games. On July 29, Barça return from the U.S and here's when there is the second window, before the Super Leg clash with Real Madrid at Camp Nou the weekend commencing August 12 (date not confirmed).
Everyone would have liked the matter to have been confirmed already. But no one should suffer. An agreement is in place and the relationship between Josep Maria Bartomeu and Jorge Messi is more than fluid -- they're the two men who have personally negotiated the new deal.
Messi's new deal will be until 2022, when he turns 35 and suggests he will play his whole career at Camp Nou.
Turning 30, his wedding to Antonela... and a contract renewal. It's been a happy summer for Leo and, for that reason, for Barcelonismo, too. He has never tired of showing his affection for Barça.
