1. India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed 133 crore 79 lakh. Out of the total vaccination, more than 81 crore 71 lakh vaccine doses have been given as first dose, while over 52 crore doses have been administered as second dose. The recovery rate is currently at 98.37% which is the highest since March last year.


2. PM Modi inaugurated Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi Uttar Pradesh on 13 Dec. In his address, the PM said Kashi Vishwanath Dham is not just a grand building but is a symbol of our Sanatan culture and our spiritual soul. He said it is a symbol of India's antiquity, traditions, energy, and dynamism.


3. Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharati Pawar has said that more than 81 thousand Health and Wellness Centres have been operationalized in the country so far. Chairing the Universal Health Coverage Day, 2021 ceremony in New Delhi, Dr. Pawar said, one lakh ten thousand Health and Wellness Centres will be completed by end of March next year.


4. Parliament has passed the High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2021 with the Rajya Sabha returning it to the Lok Sabha after the discussion. 


5. The National Testing Agency (NTA), has launched a Mobile App namely ‘National Test Abhyas’ to facilitate candidates’ access to high-quality mock tests online free of cost. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on 13 Dec, Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar said, over 14 lakh NEET students and more than 9 lakh JEE students have registered in the app and over 81 lakh Sessions of Mock Test for NEET and over 50 lakh for JEE have been conducted.


6. The Lok Sabha  passed the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2021 on 13 Dec.


7. The CBSE has dropped the controversial comprehension from its class 10 English board exam paper and has decided to award full marks to the students for this passage. Following the criticism, the board has set up an expert committee to thoroughly review and strengthen the question paper setting processes, to avoid such occurrences in the future. In a statement, CBSE said, it is committed to equity and excellence in education and promotes inclusiveness and gender sensitivity.


 8. *DELHI* : Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi have developed an RT-PCR based assay for the specific detection of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 within 90 minutes


9. *HARYANA*: India's largest syringe maker Hindustan Syringes and Medical Devices (HMD) has been allowed to restart production after it was told to temporarily shut down its plants in Haryana to control pollution.


10. *J&K* : 2 martyred, 12 hurt as terrorists fire at police vehicle in J&K's Srinagar. An ASI and a Selection Grade Constable succumbed to their injures. The incident took place near Zewan in the Pantha Chowk area. LeT claims responsibility for Srinagar terror attack killing 2 cops, injuring 14.


11. *MAHARASHTRA* : Two new Omicron cases confirmed in Maharashtra, state's tally rises to 20.


12. *PUNJAB* : The Congress on announced a 29-member state election committee in Punjab that will be headed by Congress' state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has been appointed as a member of the committee. Congress has also appointed presidents and working presidents to 28 district-level committees.


13. *TELANGANA* Minister KT Rama Rao said that Hyderabad has received a green light from the Union Environment and Forest Ministry for a 28MW waste to energy plant. This would be the second such plant in Hyderabad after a 20 MW plant was installed last year. He also flagged off 1,350 Swachh Auto Tippers (SATs) in Hyderabad

Vedanta has withdrawn cases against the government in the Delhi High Court and before an international arbitration tribunal to settle a ₹20,495 crore retrospective tax dispute. The company further declared, "No further proceedings or claims shall be initiated in any court or tribunal." The Parliament passed the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021, in August to scrap the retrospective tax law.

1. Ravinder Bhakar, CEO of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has assumed charge of National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Films Division and Children Films Society of India (CFSI) on 13 Dec .


Mr. Bhakar, a 1999-batch officer of Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS), has been assigned these charges in addition to his present duties as CEO of the film certification body.

3. RAJ KAPOOR (14 December 1924 – 2 June 1988) was an Indian film actor, producer and director of Indian cinema. Born at Kapoor Haveli in Peshawar to actor Prithviraj Kapoor– he was a member of the Kapoor family which has produced several Bollywood superstars. The Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award is named after Raj Kapoor. India's highest award in cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, was bestowed on him in 1987 by the Government of India.

1. As Group Captain Varun Singh continues to be in a critical but stable condition at the Indian Air Force’s Command Hospital in the Banglore, specialist doctors and experts from non-military hospitals have been approached for medical inputs. Doctors from both govt and private hospitals have been in communication with Air Force doctors at Command Hospital, advising them about medication (especially antibiotics), general care and the use of specialist medical equipment.


2. Sources said that the skin bank had supplied Command Hospital with 1,000 square centimetres of processed skin over the weekend. However, a skin expert noted that considering that the average human has 20,000 sq cm of skin, this is a relatively small amount. However, skin experts lamented limited skin donations due to the pandemic.

1. The Taliban government wants good relations with all countries and has no issue with the United States, its Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said. He urged the US and other nations to release upward of $10 billion in Afghan funds that were frozen when the Taliban took power in August.


2. Australia and South Korea signed a historic defence deal worth $717 million (nearly ₹5,400 crore) during South Korean President Moon Jae-in's four-day visit to Australia. Under the deal, South Korean firm Hanwha Corp will provide 30 self-propelled howitzers, 15 armoured resupply vehicles for Australia. With this deal, the leaders have agreed to upgrade their formal ties to a strategic partnership


3. *Denmark jails ex-minister for 60 days over 2016 immigration policy* :: Former Danish Immigration Minister Inger støjberg was sentenced to 60 days in jail over a 2016 policy to separate asylum-seeking couples when one of the partners was a minor. The policy had affected 23 couples before it was repealed a few months later. Støjberg argued that she was trying to protect girls from being forced into marriage before they're adults.


4. Western Allies namely, the United States, Australia and Japan have announced to jointly fund the construction of an undersea cable in the Pacific Ocean. The undersea cable in the pacific will be used to boost internet access in three small Pacific countries, since the Western allies seek to counter increasing Chinese influence in this region. Allies will develop the cable for providing faster internet to Kiribati, Nauru, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

1. Board of Control for Cricket in India,BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that, India Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match series against South Africa.


2. The BCCI tweeted that Rohit sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session in Mumbai on Sunday. The BCCI has also confirmed that Rohit is indeed ruled out and Priyank Panchal has replaced him for the three-match series.


3. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has said that the Mission Olympic Cell has a great responsibility of helping create an atmosphere of greater positivity in the Indian sports ecosystem by strengthening the institutional framework so that the nation would do better in Paris 2024.


4. A total of 148 athletes, including 20 new inductees, in seven Olympic disciplines and six Paralympic disciplines have been identified for support under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme at a meeting of the Mission Olympic Cell of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.


5. Davis Cup champions Russia will not be allowed to host any ties in 2022, an ITF spokesperson confirmed to Ubitennis. Russia is currently banned from hosting international sporting competitions by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for doping violations. ITF has confirmed that the ban is in force until December 16 next year which is after the Davis Cup Finals 2022.


6. Ex-Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene has been appointed consultant coach for the Sri Lanka men's senior team. His one-year tenure will begin on January 1, 2022. Sri Lanka A and the U-19 men's team will also be under him.

Max Verstappen have won his first “Formula One (F1) world title”, leaving behind Lewis Hamilton, at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Max Emilian Verstappen is a Belgian-Dutch racing driver, who is currently competing in Formula One with Red Bull Racing, under the Dutch flag.  *Story of Rudraksha And lord Shiva:* ‘Rudra’ is beautiful name of Lord Shiva and ‘Aksh’ means tears. Therefore Rudraksha means the tears of Lord Shiva. Rudraksha beads have been used since ages. All the yogis, saints and spiritualists wear these mystic beads for staying in touch with the Divine.


 As per Bhagavata Purana and Bhagvad Gita, brims with miseries. This place is called dhukhalaya a plaace (alaya) of misery (dukha) wherein the living entities continue to suffer ceaselessly from the pangs of birth, disease, old age and death. Considering the fateful survival of the living beings, Lord Shiva once went into deep meditation for the happiness of all living creatures trapped in the material bodies. When He woke up, He opened His majestic eyes and tear drops fell on the Earth. These tear drops took the form of seeds that later on became Rudraksha trees. Rudraksha henceforth meant ‘The Tear of Lord Shiva‘. The dried fruits from the Rudraksha tree form Rudraksha beads are thus used as prayer beads and also worn for innumerable benefits.
