Today weā€™d like to share some startup inspiration. Letā€™s look at a truly fascinating case of Genki Forest, a Chinese beverage manufacturer thatā€™s sold in 40 countries. Its revenue amounted toĀ šŸ‘‰šŸ»Ā $450 mil in 2020. The startup's valuation tripled in a year to $6 billionĀ šŸ˜Ž


ā€œChina no longer needs good ecommerce platforms, but it needs good products to sell on themā€, said founder Tang BinsenĀ Ā©ļø


šŸ„‡Ā At 22, he won a gold medal at a programming event in France. Then he also launched a gaming startup ELEX Technology ā€” which he sold for $400 million in 2014. After that, Tang Binsen decided to try his programmer approach on physical products.

The niche of tech startups, dedicated to helping repose find and reserve places to park, is on the rise againĀ šŸš—


After the pandemic, when megalopolises looked like ghost towns and parking spots were in abundance, now people try to stay away from public transport and value personal space again, ergo the need for places to park.


For instance, for SpotHero Inc., which makes an app that helps drivers locate parking spaces, it was a turbulent period. In April 2020, their business was downĀ 9ļøāƒ£0ļøāƒ£% compared with February. They had to lay off half their employees.Ā 


Bookings started to come back in January, accelerating to levels higher than before the pandemic, making the startup profitable for the first time in 10 years ā€” all thanks to a sharp increase in car ownership, spurred by people avoiding close contact with others.


All in all, we are now more picky with whom they share their personal space. Instead of public transport or taking Uber, more and more people are now looking for ways to share rides in a closed community. Our team has always worked remotely, even before the whole pandemic thing. Worked from home before it became mainstreamĀ šŸ˜‚


Itā€™s difficult to always remain in the work-mode, and it was difficult to keep in touch with all the coworkers.Ā ā˜šŸ»Especially because we are pretty much all over Europe.


We started thinking if we can somehow spice up our weekly meetings where weĀ Ā discuss how everything is goingĀ šŸ¤”


It was our CFO who came up with ideas of retro-parties. We brainstormed the format of such an event and decided on a monthly occurrence. Thereā€™s also now a separate budget on food and drinksĀ šŸ¹Ā 


We gather up in Hangouts (our platform for work communication too) to play some board games. Alias, Cluedo, you name it. After the first party we got really good feedback from everyone, so it became a genuine traditionĀ šŸ‘ŒšŸ»


Once we tried out an agency that specialises in online team building to play some retro games, but weā€™ve since returned to organising it ourselves, as we got the hang of it. Itā€™s a really fun and creative way to encourage communication, build trust within the team and generally engage our employees.Ā

šŸ§‘šŸ»ā€šŸ¦±Ā This is Pavel Beloyvan, a Head of Delivery Department at Voypost. During the 26 years of his life, heā€™s been called Pavlik and Pasha, Pal Palitch too. Surprisingly, heā€™s worked in management for more than 10 years.Ā
