The Old Recipe Box
Nice tip~ 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋🍑
If you eat fruit, don't throw seeds and kernels in the trash. Wash and dry them. Put them in a box and put it in the car. When you're on the road, throw them through the window in places where there are no trees. Nature itself will take care of them. Or throw it out during a walk or bike ride. This practice has been around for centuries in Asian countries. That is why their fruits are now growing everywhere. I would like to add that I have seen a similar phenomenon in Slovenia. While walking through the forest on the slope of the mountain around the city, I was surprised to find apple trees, apricots, plums and pears growing in the forest. Just pull and eat as much as you want.

Throw seeds that are suited to grow in your area. Some of our strongest plants are “volunteers” from places like the compost pile.

I ate a plum from my neighbors tree and planted the seed. I now have a plum tree that produces fruit. I love this idea!

I might do this with the corks from my wine bottles… 🤡😊

Great way to spread non-native plants around. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Please don't do this

Attracting wildlife to the sides of roads to eat the fruit these trees might produce is not a great idea. If you want to plant fruit trees do it on your own land...

I love seeing apple and peach trees o. The side of the Road! Doesn’t always work but sometimes you get lucky! In fact we found a royal Ann cherry in Boulder on the trail. Yep that was awesome!!

I love the idea however, I would recommend contacting your local extension office to make sure this is a good idea & that the seeds aren't considered invasive plants that are banned in your state.

I like the sentiment, but don’t do this, especially if it’s not a native species.

First: Since the vast majority of fruits and nuts probably grow in climates unlike the one your traveling in the chances of success is near zero. Second most of those fruits are hybrids that will not grow true from seed so even if they were to somehow grow you would probably not get edible fruits anyway.
