In private, you can delete everything, even on the other side
So you do not have the issue with old discussion which does not make sense anymore

But in groups, you can delete only yours messages, not other

Oh, do you mean you want to delete all your message here with a single click?

riccardo, [2/11/21 16:38]
[In reply to riccardo]
But yes I can understand there's a slight difference between groups and private chats

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:38]
Old discussion will not make sense anymore if you apply for groups

A alternative to discussion in the group is using @nnbbot

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:39]
[In reply to riccardo]
Why should you delete them?
That's a public group, you shouldn't have sent private informations

Even if you did, you can delete only these messages

riccardo, [2/11/21 16:40]
[In reply to Th -⃝.-mas]
I don't understand why having discussions that do not make sense is a relevant point, if you have the chance to delete everything entirely or cherry-picking conversations.
Even in groups, admins are offered a toggle to delete everything when they ban someone. Apparently telegram didn't care about old discussions still making sense when they designed that feature

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:41]
[In reply to riccardo]
This feature is useful for admins for spammers

I've had people messaging me asking me to delete all their messages because "GDPR makes it so I can do this", I just leave them because it isn't lol

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:41]
[In reply to astra πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§]
Wrong

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:41]
You can delete your account

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:41]
And these messages aren't linked to you anymore

No name, no profile picture, no phone number

Telegram ID remains even if you delete your account.

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:43]
[In reply to : shriMADhav]
Yes so?

astra πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§, [2/11/21 16:43]
There is someone that keeps doing that when they get in a small disagreement and want to leave, but are back on a new account

: shriMADhav, [2/11/21 16:43]
[In reply to Th -⃝.-mas]
?(Third Party )Telegram bots can find name using the id.

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:44]
[In reply to : shriMADhav]
That's an other issue, not directly related to the topic we was talking about

: shriMADhav, [2/11/21 16:44]
[In reply to Th -⃝.-mas]
everything is related 🀣🀣🀣

riccardo, [2/11/21 16:44]
[In reply to Th -⃝.-mas]
Right to be forgotten. I can even describe you a quick scenario - maybe someone I know finds out I engage in a public group where I share opinions that I don't want that person to read. Maybe I don't want my sister to find out I'm a furry, or I hold a political opinion, or something else and I just want to leave that chat without leaving a trace
Anyway I don't see how having such an option would be more controversial because it leaves old conversations confusing, than having an option to delete the chat history for both parties

Th -⃝.-mas, [2/11/21 16:45]
[In reply to riccardo]
That's why I said, you can delete your account

So people will just see "Deleted account"

riccardo, [2/11/21 16:45]
[In reply to Th -⃝.-mas]
That's extreme

riccardo, [2/11/21 16:45]
Why should I delete the account entirely lol

"Delete all"

riccardo, [2/11/21 16:47]
[In reply to Th -⃝.-mas]
That covers the right to be forgotten, okay. Doesn't cover other scenarios. The same scenarios Telegram used to market the "revoke messages 2.0" update, but with groups

xSylla, [2/11/21 16:48]
[In reply to Sonico]
What is that?

Dash God, [2/11/21 16:49]
[In reply to riccardo]
luckily this chat is a public group, if this is a private group and you "cleared chat history" before, you won't be able to delete some of those messages which included in those cleared chat histories.
